This fall, fueled by the W.K. Kellogg Foundation and Strada Education Foundation, we’re sending three people on a free journey throughout Mississippi to explore all kinds of career paths and opportunities based around their interests—and we’ll even explore growing industries across the state like advanced manufacturing, agriculture, energy, health care, information technology, and finance, just to name a few.
We’ll show you how others have found fulfilling and impactful careers in all sorts of fields right where you live—and we’ll highlight the various paths you can take to get there, from four-year degrees and technical schools to internships and certifications. You’ll talk to people from all walks of life, with one thing in common: all of them have found something they love doing in the Magnolia State.
And by hearing their stories, you’ll learn how you can make your own mark on Mississippi, too.
We’re looking for you if:
You’re 18+ and toward the beginning of your career journey
You live in Mississippi
You’re not quite sure what you want to do with your life, but you could see yourself going into fields like advanced manufacturing, agriculture, construction, logistics, energy, health care, information technology, or finance
You’re open to exploring various pathways to success including two- and four-year degree paths, certifications, apprenticeships, and technical schools
You’re looking for the next step on your path
What is this for?
You’ll be applying to be part of Roadtrip Nation’s public television series about how people find their paths in life. That means you’ll be part of the show—we’ll be filming you along the journey, to highlight your story, and share it with more people like you!
But this is also so much more than a TV show—it’s an opportunity for you to get out there, get exposure to new paths and possibilities, and talk to people whose stories can change your life.
For this two-episode series, we’re focusing on how people in Mississippi acquired the skills they needed to build the lives they wanted in the Magnolia State.
You’ll be meeting with professionals (and potential mentors!) working in a career based around your interests, including advanced manufacturing, agriculture, construction, logistics, energy, health care, information technology, and finance—and you’ll have the chance to interview them about what their work is really like, and what it took to get there.
Additional Information:
We’ll be filming in September 2025, and we’ll work with you to schedule around your life and commitments during that time.
All travel expenses—plus a daily stipend for personal expenses—are paid for by Roadtrip Nation. We’ll work with you to make sure the stipend covers what you need to be able to participate.
The experience will be filmed, and you’ll be asked to share your thoughts and feelings on-camera throughout the journey. The resulting documentary may be shown on public television, and/or used in Roadtrip Nation’s educational tools.
If selected, you’ll help plan the experience around your interests and career aspirations—so you’ll need to work with Roadtrip Nation to research and book interviews with the career role models you’d like to speak with.
After filming is over, we’ll provide you with six months of free personalized career coaching and support from InsideTrack to help you pursue your life, education, and career goals.
